A native Git client for Linux, not a port

Most Git GUIs treat Linux as an afterthought: a community build, an Electron shell, or nothing at all. BranchBay ships the same native Rust app on Linux as on macOS and Windows, packaged the way your distribution installs software.

No account. No card. No renewal. macOS, Windows and Linux.

Install it the way your distribution expects

Pick the package that matches your system. Every one of them installs the same binary with the same features.

  • Ubuntu and Debian: an apt repository that also installs the desktop entry and icons, with updates through apt.
  • Arch Linux: a package in the AUR.
  • Gentoo: an ebuild repository.
  • Nix and NixOS: a flake, usable from a NixOS or Home Manager configuration.
  • Homebrew on Linux: the binary, desktop entry and icons under the Homebrew prefix.
  • Any distribution: an AppImage, one file with no installation, or a tarball for ~/.local/bin.

Fast on big repositories

BranchBay is written in Rust and drawn on the GPU rather than inside a bundled browser. Big graphs scroll like a list, the app starts in a blink and it stays light while it watches your working tree and fetches in the background on a timer.

Everything a day of work needs

  • A commit graph whose lanes keep their column, with history modes, author filters and file history.
  • Staging by line or by hunk, split or inline diffs with word-level highlights, and 81 languages highlighted through Tree-sitter.
  • A three-way merge conflict resolver with automatic solving for identical, one-sided and whitespace-only conflicts.
  • Visual interactive rebase, drag-and-drop merge and rebase, squash a selection, reword any unpushed commit.
  • Blame, reflog with reset, a docked terminal per repository and an editor for quick fixes in place.

Built for people with many repositories

The Launchpad lists everything you have checked out, sorted into groups, with your issues and pull requests across all of them. Profiles keep work and personal identities, repositories and accounts apart. A global shortcut opens the tray to jump into any repository in BranchBay, your IDE or a terminal, and the IDE manager lets each repository open in the editor you pick for it.

GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps

Connect accounts per profile, in the cloud or on your own servers: GitHub and GitHub Enterprise, GitLab and self-hosted GitLab, Bitbucket and Bitbucket Data Center, Azure DevOps. Tokens stay in the system credential store, never in a settings file. Create pull requests from the app and see the open ones next to your branches.

Pay once, run it on 2 computers

BranchBay costs $20 once for 2 computers, in any mix of Linux, macOS and Windows. There is no account to create, no subscription to renew and no telemetry. The trial lasts 14 days with every feature, and your groups, profiles and settings carry over when you buy.

Which Linux distributions does BranchBay support?
Ubuntu and Debian through apt, Arch Linux through the AUR, Gentoo through an ebuild repository, Nix and NixOS through a flake, any distribution through Homebrew on Linux, an AppImage or a tarball.
Is there an RPM or a Flatpak?
Not yet. On Fedora, openSUSE and other RPM-based distributions use the AppImage, the tarball, Nix or Homebrew on Linux; all of them run the same binary.
Does BranchBay need Git installed?
Yes. It drives the Git on your PATH and needs Git 2.50 or newer, which every current distribution ships.
Is BranchBay open source or free?
No. It is a paid native application with a 14-day trial that needs no account or card, then $20 once for 2 computers. Updates arrive inside the app and never renew the price.

Try it on your own repositories.

Every feature, free for the trial, with nothing to sign up for and nothing to renew after.
